Hesketh Colts U11 Red braved the snow and wind this afternoon for this weekend's fixture against Southport Hesketh Juniors. Colts started strong and after denying an early chance by the Juniors, claimed the lead thanks to a super strike from Antoni, assisted by Harry. It was followed up immediately by another play between Antoni and Bobbie that was unlucky not to be a goal!

A great shot from Juniors hit the Colts bar and was cleared out of the box by Linden and Will with some lovely teamwork but was followed quickly by another shot on target that was saved beautifully by keeper Wiktor.

The Colts defence were kept busy, with Ben forced to put the ball over the back line to prevent another attempt. The corner was taken quickly, and a goal line clearance from Owen denied the visitors an equaliser. Another shot followed but Wiktor dived for it and kept the ball out of the net with a spectacular save!

Colts ramped up the pressure and managed to break, with Antoni dribbling past the Juniors defence and tucking the ball away to take the score to 2-0!

Wiktor made another save, keeping Colts' clean sheet, and his lovely goal kick over the top found Bobbie who took on the Juniors defence, ran around the keeper and put the ball in the corner of the net for 3-0.

Juniors came back after half time with a brilliant diagonal strike to pull a goal back, but Colts weren't deterred from their attack. Sean's pressing was relentless; winning challenges, passing to Antoni and forcing Juniors to put the ball out more than once. A shot from Bobbie hit the post but a few minutes later Wiktor's sailed past the Juniors keeper, strengthening the Colts' lead!

Juniors fought back hard, and the Colts supporters enjoyed some brilliant challenges from Sean and some lovely defending from Will. Bobbie, Ryan and Josh worked well together, passing between each other and taking the ball forward. A cross from Bobbie in front of the goal was just out of Josh's reach, and Ryan and Reuben fought hard on the left wing to win important challenges.

Juniors were determined not to go down without a fight, and claimed another goal to bring the score to 4-2.

Ben pulled off a couple of lovely saves, and the Colts fans watched in delight as a powerful strike from Owen curled up and over, out of reach of the Juniors keeper and dropped neatly into the back of the net, taking the score to 5-2.

Both teams kept the pressure on until the very end with a skillful attempt from Linden causing the Juniors keeper to make another save, but the score finished 5-2.
